Girl Reporters Tackle NFL Women's Summit

At the first NFL Women's Summit, female athletes told GlobalGirl Media reporters how a background in sports can make them winners in the professional world.

(WOMENSENEWS)- A few weeks after the National Football League announced Kathryn Smith would be the first full-time female coach in the NFL, the league hosted a summit on the progress of women in sports.

GlobalGirl Media reporters were on the scene in San Francisco to see how sports can help girls become leaders in the professional world.

For Paralympic swimmer and U.S. Army Sgt. Elizabeth Marks, being an athlete taught her to always “try a little bit harder.” And for Facebook's marketing vice president, Rebecca Van Dyck, sports are about effort. “I was actually never the best,” she told the teen reporters. “I was always wonderfully average, but I was the loudest!”
